Flexible Conduit

Flexible conduit is a bendable tube, in PVC or PVC-coated steel, that protects cables on final connections to equipment, around tight bends and where vibration or movement would crack rigid conduit. We stock PEMCO galvanised flexible conduit with PVC coating, Deligo PVC coated flexible conduit and spiral contractor packs, and black ECGFE spiral PVC conduit in 16mm and 20mm.

Fixed and swivel adaptors and M20 and M25 glands complete the system. Trade customers get trade pricing, and in-stock orders placed by 5pm Mon–Fri are delivered next working day in NI and ROI.

How to choose flexible conduit

Flexible conduit is the go-to choice for the last metre of a run, connecting rigid containment to motors, pumps, machinery, luminaires and other equipment. It absorbs vibration, allows for movement and makes awkward routes simple.

Types of flexible conduit

  • PVC spiral conduit – lightweight and economical for general-purpose flexible connections, in black or white.
  • PVC coated steel conduit – a steel core for crush resistance with a PVC jacket for moisture and corrosion protection, such as PEMCO and Deligo options.
  • Contractor packs – pre-packed lengths with fittings for quick jobs.

Choosing size and fittings

Pick a diameter that leaves room for the cables and any future additions, typically 16mm, 20mm, 25mm or 32mm. Fixed adaptors connect to a rigid entry, while swivel adaptors let the conduit rotate during fitting so it isn't twisted. Straight glands with locknuts, in M20 and M25 sizes, seal into enclosures and maintain the IP rating; check that the gland and conduit come from a compatible system to achieve the stated rating.

Installation tips

Keep runs short; flexible conduit is meant for final connections, not long routes. Avoid bending tighter than the manufacturer's minimum radius, and don't leave it under tension. Where conduit is outdoors or in washdown areas, use a liquid-tight system with sealed glands. If metallic flexible conduit is used, do not rely on it as the protective conductor; run a separate circuit protective conductor as required by current wiring regulations.

For the rigid part of the run, see steel conduit or plastic conduit, and for connections into enclosures browse glands.
