Adhesives & Sealants

Electrical resin gels and sealants are insulating compounds poured or squeezed into joints and enclosures to keep out moisture, protecting connections in damp, outdoor and underground locations. We stock Raytech Magic Resin Gel in 1 litre and 2 litre packs and Magic Gel Sprint in a 450ml pack.

Unlike hard-setting resin, gel sealants stay soft so the joint or junction box can be re-entered later for testing or alterations. Trade customers get account pricing, and stock gel ordered before the 5pm cut-off ships for next working day delivery in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

How to choose a resin gel or sealant

Water getting into a connection is one of the most common causes of faults on outdoor and underground circuits. Gel sealants fill the space around terminals and cable entries so moisture has nowhere to go.

Typical applications

  • Sealing connections inside junction boxes on external walls or in ground-level locations
  • Protecting terminations for garden, landscape and outdoor lighting
  • In-line joints on low voltage cables in damp or wet conditions
  • Filling enclosures exposed to condensation

Choosing the pack size

Work out the internal volume of the box or joint shell to be filled, then allow a little extra. The 450ml Magic Gel Sprint suits smaller boxes and single joints, while 1 litre and 2 litre packs of Magic Resin Gel cover larger enclosures or several jobs. Check the manufacturer's data for coverage and suitable applications.

Gel or hard resin?

Re-enterable gel is ideal when future access is likely, as it can be removed to reach terminals and then topped up. Hard-setting resin, as used in SWA cable joint kits, creates a permanent encapsulated joint that is not designed to be reopened. Choose based on whether the connection must remain accessible.

Application tips

Make and test the connections first, ensure the box is clean and dry, then fill slowly so the gel flows around all terminals without trapping air. Close the lid as instructed. Follow the safety data and the manufacturer's instructions, and check current wiring regulations regarding accessibility of connections.
