EV Chargers
EV chargers are dedicated wall-mounted or ground-mounted charge points that supply power to an electric vehicle more safely and quickly than a standard socket. Our range includes GARO 7.4kW chargers in socketed and tethered versions, the GARO Entity with load management, and the BG SyncEV Wall Charger 2 with Wi-Fi and LAN.
For commercial sites we also supply metered twin 22kW ground-mounted units. Trade customers receive account pricing, with in-stock chargers delivered next working day to NI and ROI when ordered by 5pm.
How to choose the right EV charger
Selecting a charge point means balancing the available supply, the vehicles being charged and how the site will use it. Home installations and commercial car parks have very different needs.
Power output
- 7.4kW single-phase: the common choice for homes, matching the typical single-phase domestic supply. Our GARO and BG SyncEV chargers fall into this category.
- 22kW three-phase: suited to workplaces and commercial sites with a three-phase supply; our ground-mounted units offer two 22kW outlets with metering.
A vehicle can only draw what its on-board charger accepts, so a higher-rated charge point will not always charge faster.
Tethered or socketed
A tethered charger has a cable permanently attached, such as the GARO with a 7.5m lead, which is convenient for one household. A socketed (Type 2 outlet) charger lets drivers use their own cable, which suits shared parking and tidier installations.
Load management and connectivity
Load management monitors the property's demand and reduces charging current when needed to protect the main fuse. The GARO Entity is supplied with a 60A load management device. Wi-Fi, LAN or Ethernet connectivity enables scheduling, usage reports and remote updates, and metered units help with cost allocation on commercial sites.
Installation and compliance
EV charger installation is notifiable electrical work in many cases and must follow BS 7671, including its requirements for electric vehicle charging installations. Check earthing arrangements, RCD protection, cable sizing and any network operator notification before starting. Typical supporting materials include SWA armoured cable, RCBOs and weatherproof enclosures. Grant schemes and smart-charging rules vary by region, so check current requirements.
As a family-run wholesaler with 40+ years in the trade, we supply chargers alongside the cable and protection for the job. Delivery is free over £30 / €35 ex VAT, and credit accounts are offered subject to approval.
