Smart Heaters
Smart heaters are electric heaters with built-in Wi-Fi or app control, letting you set temperatures, schedules and heating modes from a phone. We stock the ATC Almeria Eco Wi-Fi panel heater from 750W to 2kW in white or black, ATC iLifestyle smart radiators from 500W to 1800W and the Masterplug SmartEnergy Breeze ceramic heater and fan.
The Secure intelligent thermostatic radiator valve adds smart control to wet radiators. Get trade rates on account and next working day delivery across NI and ROI on in-stock orders placed by 5pm.
How to choose the right smart heater
A smart heater combines an electric heat source with a programmable controller and wireless connectivity. The aim is to heat a room only when it is needed, to the temperature required, which can help manage running costs compared with basic manual heaters.
Types of smart heater
- Wi-Fi panel heaters: slim, wall-mounted units such as the ATC Almeria Eco, suited to offices, bedrooms and extensions.
- Smart electric radiators: the ATC iLifestyle range gives a radiator-style finish in outputs from 500W to 1800W.
- Portable fan heaters: the Masterplug SmartEnergy Breeze is a 1500W bladeless ceramic heater and fan for flexible, room-to-room use.
- Smart radiator valves: the Secure intelligent TRV brings room-by-room control to existing central heating radiators.
Sizing a heater
Output (in watts) should suit the room size, ceiling height, insulation and window area. As a rough guide, small or well-insulated rooms need lower outputs, while larger or draughty rooms need more. Choosing the correct wattage helps the thermostat maintain temperature without the heater running flat out. If you are unsure, compare outputs within our wider panel heater range.
Controls and connectivity
Check that the heater's app and wireless protocol suit the user and that the property has a reliable Wi-Fi signal where the heater will be fitted. Useful features include 7-day programming, open-window detection and remote boost. For whole-house control, pair heaters with smart heating controls or conventional thermostats and timers.
Installation notes
Fixed heaters are commonly wired to a fused connection unit and should be installed in line with current wiring regulations (BS 7671) and the manufacturer's clearance distances. Bathrooms and other special locations have additional zone requirements, so check the IP rating and instructions before fitting.
