How to choose an ATC Lifestyle electric radiator

Electric radiators give each room its own heat source and thermostat, so you heat only the spaces in use. With no boiler, flue or pipework, they are a practical choice for extensions, apartments and properties moving away from fossil fuels.

iLifestyle or Sun Ray?

  • ATC iLifestyle (WLS500 to WLS1800): smart radiators with Wi-Fi connectivity for app-based scheduling and remote control, available in 500W, 750W, 1000W, 1200W, 1500W and 1800W.
  • ATC Sun Ray RF: electric thermal radiators in white from 350W to 1800W, plus black versions from 750W to 1800W where a darker finish suits the interior.

Choosing the right output

Base the wattage on a heat loss estimate for the room, taking account of floor area, ceiling height, insulation and glazing. A single larger radiator can sometimes replace two smaller units, saving material and installation time, but in long or L-shaped rooms two smaller heaters usually give more even warmth. For small or occasionally used rooms, compare with our ATC Almeria panel heaters.

Installation and control tips

Mount radiators on an outside wall or beneath a window where possible, keeping the clearances given in the instructions. Fixed installations are usually connected through a fused connection unit; check the manufacturer's guidance and current wiring regulations. Space heaters sold today must meet Ecodesign (Lot 20) requirements for electronic temperature and time control, so use the built-in programming fully. For app control across the whole house, see our smart heaters and smart controls.
