Cut-Out Fuses
Cut-out fuses are the high-capacity service fuses and fused cut-outs that protect a supply at the point of intake or feed street lighting and street furniture. We currently stock the Lawson 80 Amp house service (ME) fuse and Lucy Zodion Titan single fuse cut-outs, available with either a brass or a plastic gland plate drilled with two 20mm holes.
Trade prices are available to account holders, and in-stock items ordered by 5pm Monday to Friday reach customers in NI and the Republic the next working day.
Choosing cut-out fuses and single fuse cut-outs
Cut-outs are the first protective device on many supplies, so choosing the correct fuse and housing matters for both safety and compliance with network operator requirements.
What is in this range
- House service fuse - the Lawson 80A ME fuse is a cartridge service fuse used in supply cut-outs.
- Single fuse cut-outs - the Lucy Zodion Titan provides a fused termination for supplies to street lighting columns, signs, feeder pillars and similar street furniture.
- Gland plate options - brass or plastic plates with two 20mm holes for cable entry.
Selection points
Check the fuse rating and physical type against the cut-out or holder and any specification issued by the client or network operator. For cut-out units, consider cable entry size, gland type and the earthing arrangement of the supply. Columns and street furniture are commonly fed with SWA armoured cable terminated with suitable cable glands.
Safety and responsibility
The main service fuse in a domestic or commercial intake is normally sealed and belongs to the network operator; only authorised persons should remove or replace it. Single fuse cut-outs on private or street lighting networks should be installed and maintained by competent electricians, following the manufacturer's instructions and current wiring regulations. Always isolate and prove dead before working on a cut-out.
