Adhesive Tapes

Adhesive and barrier tapes are rolled tapes used on site to mark hazards, cordon off work areas and protect metal surfaces from corrosion. The current range covers 75mm x 500m yellow and black barrier tape in adhesive and non-adhesive versions, and Olympic Fixings anti-corrosion tape in 50mm x 10m rolls.

For electrical insulation, PVC insulation tape is stocked separately. Order on a trade account for trade pricing, and in-stock rolls ordered before the 5pm weekday cut-off arrive the next working day across NI and ROI.

Choosing barrier and protective tapes for site work

Site tapes are easy to overlook until a job needs a cordon, a floor marking or a quick protective wrap. Knowing which tape does which job saves a wasted trip.

Non-adhesive barrier tape

Non-adhesive yellow and black barrier tape is tied between posts, stands or fixed points to cordon off an area such as an open floor void, a work zone under an overhead installation or a trench. It is a visual warning rather than a physical barrier, so it should be used alongside other controls where there is a risk of falls or contact with live equipment.

Adhesive hazard tape

The adhesive version sticks directly to floors, steps, machinery, doorframes and edges to highlight trip hazards, low headroom or restricted areas. Clean and dry the surface first for best adhesion.

Anti-corrosion tape

Anti-corrosion tape is wrapped around buried or exposed metal such as pipework, bolts, fixings and threaded rod to keep moisture and air away from the surface. Typical uses include:

  • Wrapping steel fixings or clamps at ground level or in damp locations
  • Protecting threaded rod and bracket joints outdoors
  • Sealing around metal where dissimilar materials meet

Overlap each turn as recommended by the manufacturer and work from the bottom up so water runs off rather than into the wrap.
