Electric Towel Radiators

Electric towel radiators are wall-mounted heated rails, powered by an electric element rather than the central heating, that warm and dry towels and add background heat to a bathroom all year round. Our range includes the ATC Pacific heated towel radiator (1000mm x 500mm) and ATC chrome towel radiators in 800mm and 1100mm heights, each with a 300W heating element.

Because they run independently of the boiler, they work in summer too. Trade customers enjoy trade pricing, with next working day delivery to NI and ROI on weekday orders received before 5pm.

How to choose an electric towel radiator

An electric towel radiator gives you warm, dry towels whenever you want them, without running the whole central heating system. It also helps control damp in bathrooms, en-suites and utility rooms. Size, output and finish are the main decisions.

Sizes and outputs in our range

  • ATC chrome 800mm x 500mm, 300W: a compact rail for en-suites and cloakrooms.
  • ATC chrome 1100mm x 500mm, 300W: a taller rail with more hanging space for family bathrooms.
  • ATC Pacific 1000mm x 500mm: a mid-height option where wall space is limited.

Taller rails hold more towels, but heat output also matters if the rail is expected to warm the room. Compare the wattage with the size of the bathroom, and add a separate heater in larger or colder rooms; our bathroom heaters include a downflow fan heater for quick warmth.

Positioning and wiring

Plan the location before tiling. Keep the rail within the bathroom zones the manufacturer allows, mount it so towels hang clear of the floor, and route the supply so the connection is concealed behind the rail. Electric rails are normally connected through a fused connection unit, with the switch positioned out of reach of anyone using the bath or shower and the circuit protected by a 30mA RCD. Check current wiring regulations and the manufacturer's instructions before installation.

Control and ventilation

A timer or boost control stops the rail running when nobody needs it; see our thermostats and timers for options. A rail dries towels, but moisture still needs to leave the room, so pair it with a suitable extractor fan.
