Acoustic Lighting
Acoustic lighting combines an LED light fitting with sound-absorbing material, reducing echo and background noise while lighting the room from the same product. Our range is built around Red Arrow: the Scarlet acoustic panel and Scarlet pendant with Laser linear light, Poppy and Poppy XL linear pendants in lengths up to 2400mm, and Alana, Lilo, Belle, Sinead, Louise and JD circular pendants.
Finishes include grey, dark grey, black, blue, red, green, orange and yellow. Open a trade account for trade pricing, and get stocked lines to NI and ROI sites the next working day when ordered before 5pm on weekdays.
How to choose acoustic lighting
Hard surfaces, glass and open-plan layouts make many modern interiors noisy. Acoustic luminaires tackle that problem and the lighting at once, which saves ceiling space and installation time compared with separate baffles and fittings.
Where acoustic lighting works well
- Open-plan offices and breakout areas
- Meeting rooms and reception spaces
- Classrooms, libraries and lecture spaces
- Restaurants, cafés and hospitality venues
- Healthcare waiting areas
Choosing a style
Linear pendants such as Poppy XL suit rows of desks and long tables, giving even task lighting along the run. Circular pendants such as Lilo, Belle and Sinead work as feature pieces over tables, reception desks and seating areas, and can be grouped at different heights. Panels such as Scarlet suit spaces where a flatter, ceiling-mounted look is preferred. Colour choice lets the fittings blend with the ceiling or act as a design feature in brand or school colours. Where acoustic treatment is not needed, standard LED panels or LED battens may be more economical.
Specification and installation tips
Acoustic benefit increases with the amount of absorbent surface, so larger rooms usually need several fittings spread across the space; an acoustic consultant can advise on critical rooms. Check the light output and colour temperature against the task, the suspension length against the ceiling height, and the fixing method for the ceiling type. If dimming or presence control is required, confirm the driver options and choose controls from our controls and drivers range. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and current wiring regulations.
Meteor Electrical is a family-run wholesaler with a 200,000 sq ft warehouse in Cookstown and depots in Cashel and Saggart. England, Scotland and Wales deliveries take 3–5 working days, and orders over £30 / €35 ex VAT are delivered free.
