A ceiling rose is effectively a junction box for the power feed, switch wire and pendant flex of a ceiling light. The ceiling rose has 3 sets of discreet terminals for the current carrying conductors plus an additional terminal for terminating the earthing conductors.
How big should a ceiling rose be?
The most common way to measure the required size of a ceiling rose is to measure the size of the room (length x width x height). For example, if a room is 10m long X 5.5m wide X 3m height = 165. This means the light fitting should be 165cm or bigger, and the ceiling rose should be slightly bigger than the fitting.
