How to choose a Lucy Zodion cut out
A street-lighting cut out sits at the base of a column or inside a cabinet. It terminates the incoming supply, provides a fuse to protect the outgoing circuit to the luminaire, and gives a safe point of isolation for maintenance teams.
Brass plate or plastic plate?
- Brass plate – typically chosen where a metallic earthing or bonding connection is needed at the gland plate, for example with armoured cable.
- Plastic plate – an insulated option often used with non-armoured cables or where the design calls for an all-insulated termination.
- 2 x 20mm holes – check that your incoming and outgoing cable glands suit 20mm entries before ordering.
Specifying and fitting
Confirm the fuse rating required by the lighting design, the cable size and type, and the door opening of the column so the unit fits. Use suitable glands and make the earth connection in line with the design and current wiring regulations (BS 7671 for UK installations), and follow any local authority or network operator specification. Always work to the manufacturer's installation instructions.
