PJW
PJW supplies electricity metering products, including prepayment meters for rented and managed properties. From PJW we stock the Euro 1 & 2 100A Electronic Coin Prepayment Meter, which lets occupants pay for electricity with coins while landlords recover energy costs.
Often fitted in holiday lets, caravans and shared accommodation. Trade customers benefit from trade prices, and in-stock meters ordered before 5pm Monday to Friday arrive the next working day across NI and ROI.
Choosing a coin prepayment meter
Coin meters let a landlord or site operator charge occupants for the electricity they use. They are simple for users and avoid the need for separate billing.
Where they are used
- Holiday lets and self-catering accommodation.
- Caravan and chalet parks.
- Shared houses, flats and bedsits.
- Workshops, marinas and sports clubs.
Key features to check
Check the current rating against the supply it will meter; this model is rated at 100A. Confirm which coins it accepts and how the tariff is set, and whether it can be adjusted as prices change, because energy costs rarely stay the same for long. Consider how and where the coin box will be emptied and secured. Mounting location should be accessible to users but protected from damage and moisture.
Installation and compliance
These are sub-meters fitted after the supplier's meter. Installation should be carried out by a competent electrician in line with current wiring regulations and the manufacturer instructions. Landlords should also check any rules on reselling electricity in their area.
For other metering options, see our electric meters. You may also need a suitable consumer unit after the meter, or an external meter box.
