Choosing a downflow fan heater
A downflow fan heater mounts high on the wall and directs warm air down into the room, giving fast heat in small spaces without taking up floor space.

Sizing and location
Check the heater output against the room size and insulation level. Mount at the height given in the manufacturer instructions, away from curtains and obstructions, and ensure the airflow is not blocked. Fan heaters suit short bursts of heat; for rooms that need warmth for long periods, a panel heater may be more economical.
Bathroom installations
In bathrooms the heater must be installed in a zone and with an IP rating permitted by current wiring regulations. Check the product details and BS 7671 for zone requirements, and provide suitable isolation, often via a fused spur outside the room. Installation should be carried out by a competent person.
