Floor Boxes

Electrical floor boxes are recessed housings set into screed or raised floors to provide power and data outlets in open spaces, keeping leads off walkways. Our Tass range includes 3 compartment screed boxes in 75mm depth, compact and 3 compartment cavity floor boxes, and powder coated steel frames and lids.

Fit them out with Tass 13A twin switched socket plates, 4 gang RJ45 plates, CAT5e and CAT6 modules, Euro module plates and screed wave plates. We also stock 127mm and 169mm floor grommets. Trade prices apply on account, and stock orders by 5pm are delivered next working day across NI and ROI.

How to choose the right floor box

Floor boxes are planned at an early stage of a project because they are built into the floor structure. Getting the type, depth and module layout right means fewer problems at fit-out.

Screed or cavity floor boxes

  • Screed floor boxes are cast into a concrete or sand-cement screed, with cables fed through conduit or trunking in the floor. Check the box depth against the screed thickness.
  • Cavity floor boxes fit into raised access floors, with cables run through the void below. Compact versions suit tight spaces.

Compartments and modules

Multi-compartment boxes separate power, data and other services, helping maintain segregation. Plan how many sockets and data outlets each position needs, then choose plates to suit: twin switched socket plates, RJ45 data plates, and Euro module plates that take compatible Euro modules and accessories. Check CAT5e or CAT6 module compatibility with the data cabling specification.

Lids, frames and grommets

Powder coated frames and lids finish the installation. Recessed lids accept a carpet tile or floor finish so the box blends into the floor. Floor grommets in 127mm and 169mm sizes give cable exits from the box to the desk, and some versions include a power outlet. For surface-mounted alternatives, see our pedestal boxes.

Installation and compliance

Set screed boxes level with the finished floor height and protect them during pouring. Use a suitable RCD-protected circuit where required, and check current wiring regulations and the manufacturer's instructions. In cleaned areas, consider stainless steel grommets that resist wear.
