Screwdrivers
Screwdrivers for electricians are hand tools for driving terminal and fixing screws, and insulated 1000V VDE models are the standard for electrical work. This range is led by the C.K DextroVDE and DextroVDE Slim screwdrivers in slotted, PH, PZ, PZD and modular tips, alongside C.K VDE sets with interchangeable blades, a Selectric 14-piece multi screwdriver set and 5-piece insulated sets.
Mains testers, a flexible shaft driver and M3.5 and M4 re-threaders are here too. Buy on account at trade prices, with next working day delivery in NI and ROI on weekday orders before 5pm.

How to choose the right screwdrivers
An electrician uses a screwdriver more than almost any other tool, so getting the right tips, insulation and grip pays off every day.
Tip types
- Slotted (flat) – for terminal screws and older accessories; parallel tips reach into recessed terminals without catching on the sides.
- Pozidriv (PZ) – the common cross-head for fixing screws and many accessory screws in the UK and Ireland.
- Phillips (PH) – found on some imported equipment; do not mix with PZ.
- PZD and modular tips – combination slotted/cross tips designed for modern MCB and terminal screws.
VDE and slim insulation
VDE screwdrivers are individually tested and rated for work near live parts up to 1000V AC. Slim versions, like the DextroVDE Slim, have reduced-diameter insulated shafts that reach deep into recessed terminals on sockets, switches and consumer unit devices. Check insulation for damage before each use, and remember that insulated tools are a back-up, not a substitute for safe isolation.
Sets versus individual drivers
Sets give a cost-effective start with the most common sizes, while interchangeable blade sets save space in the bag. Individual drivers make sense for replacing worn tips or adding specialist sizes. Keep tips in good condition: worn tips cam out and damage screw heads.
Handy extras
Re-threaders clean up damaged M3.5 and M4 threads in back box lugs, and a flexible shaft screwdriver reaches awkward screws. Pair your drivers with voltage testers, accessory screws and back boxes.
