Floodlights

LED floodlights are wide-beam exterior lights used to illuminate yards, car parks, building façades and security areas from a single fixed point. Our range runs from compact Kosnic Rhine III fittings with switchable colour temperature and optional sensors, through Red Arrow Comet PIR models, to high-output Kosnic Della and Vermillion floodlights with asymmetric optics.

Solar and spike-mounted options are available for gardens and outbuildings without a supply. Trade customers receive account pricing, and weekday orders placed before 5pm are sent out for next working day delivery throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic.

How to choose the right floodlight

Floodlights cover everything from a single back door to a large yard. Working out the area, the mounting height and how the light should be switched narrows the choice quickly.

Types of floodlight

  • Compact floodlights (around 10W–50W) such as Kosnic Rhine III suit driveways, gardens, small yards and building entrances.
  • PIR and sensor floodlights such as Red Arrow Comet and Rhine III Sensor switch on when movement is detected, ideal for security and occasional access.
  • High-power floodlights such as Kosnic Della and Vermillion light car parks, depots and larger external areas.
  • Solar and spike floodlights suit outbuildings without a supply and garden feature lighting.

Specifications to compare

Look at lumen output rather than wattage, and match it to the area you need to cover. Symmetric optics spread light evenly, while asymmetric optics throw light forward from a wall or pole and reduce upward spill, which helps limit glare onto neighbouring property. CCT-switchable models let you choose a warmer white for homes or a cooler white for commercial security. For exposed positions, IP65 protection is widely used. For dusk-to-dawn or remote detection, pair a floodlight with a separate sensor from our motion detectors range.

Installation tips

Mount floodlights high enough to deter tampering and angle them downwards to keep glare out of neighbours' windows and road users' eyes. Outdoor circuits usually need RCD protection, and cable runs must suit external use, such as SWA armoured cable for buried or exposed runs, terminated in a suitable weatherproof enclosure. Always check current wiring regulations and the manufacturer's instructions.
