Product Information
This 100m coil of 4.0mm² 6193B flat twin cable has a full-size insulated earth. It is built for fixed wiring where a separate, sleeved green/yellow protective conductor is required in place of the usual reduced bare earth found in standard twin and earth. The live and neutral cores are brown and blue, and the earth core is also 4.0mm², so no sleeving is needed at terminations.
The cable is made to the Irish standard IS 201-4 and is aimed at installations that must meet the Republic of Ireland wiring rules. The insulation and the white outer sheath are both low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) polyethylene. In a fire it gives off less smoke than PVC cable and releases no halogen acid gases. The 4.0mm² conductors are stranded copper.

6193B is made to the Irish standard IS 201-4 and is designed to meet the Republic of Ireland wiring rules, which call for a full-size insulated earth. It is not a BS 6004 or BS 7211 cable. Before using it on a job designed to BS 7671, confirm with the designer or specifier that it is acceptable, and check the manufacturer's data for the figures you need.
There is no single figure. Current-carrying capacity depends on the installation method, whether the cable is in contact with thermal insulation, grouping with other circuits, ambient temperature and the protective device. Use the tables in BS 7671 Appendix 4 (or the equivalent ET 101 tables in the Republic of Ireland) with the relevant correction factors, and check voltage drop for the circuit length.
No. The manufacturer's datasheet describes it as a cable for general fixed installations and states that it cannot be used externally. It has no armour or mechanical protection, so it is not suitable for direct burial. For outdoor or underground runs, choose a cable designed for that purpose, such as a suitable armoured cable, and follow current wiring regulations.
No. Unlike standard 6242 twin and earth, which has a bare reduced-size protective conductor, 6193B has an insulated green/yellow earth core of the same size as the live and neutral. You can terminate it directly without green/yellow sleeving. Make sure every termination is tight and that the earth is connected at each accessory, as for any circuit protective conductor.
