Smart Switches & Sockets
Smart switches and sockets are wiring accessories that can be operated wirelessly, remotely or with added functions beyond a standard rocker. Our range centres on Selectric Kinetic self-powered switches, key switches and SKIN-3 fobs that pair with Selectric RF receivers, including a dimmable RF and Wi-Fi model.
Selectric retractive and emergency key switches come in finishes from satin chrome to dark bronze. Trade buyers get account pricing and next working day NI and ROI delivery when ordering in-stock lines by 5pm.

How to choose smart switches and sockets
This range is built around wire-free and specialist switching. The key is matching the switch type to the control you need and pairing it with the right receiver.
Kinetic wireless switches
Kinetic switches generate their own energy when pressed, sending a radio signal to a receiver wired at the light or appliance. That means no batteries and no cable between switch and load, so they can be fixed to walls, glass or furniture. Options include:
- Standard on/off and key-operated kinetic switches in white or antique brass
- The SKIN-3 wireless fob for portable control
- 2.5A RF receivers: standard on/off, key switch, combined smart and standard, and a dimmable RF and Wi-Fi receiver for app control
See more in our Kinetic switches section.
Retractive and emergency key switches
Retractive switches spring back after pressing and are used to send a momentary signal, commonly to control lighting relays, door entry or building management inputs. Push on/off emergency key switches suit plant isolation and controlled areas. Selectric offers finishes including satin and polished chrome, black nickel, satin brass, matt black, matt white and dark bronze, with white, black or grey inserts to match surrounding decorative metal switches and sockets.
What to check before ordering
- Receiver load rating (2.5A on our kinetic receivers) against the lighting or appliance load
- Whether the load is dimmable and suits the dimmable receiver
- Space for the receiver in the ceiling, fitting or back box
- RF range between switch and receiver, allowing for walls and metalwork
Installation
Receivers are hard-wired and should be installed by a competent person following BS 7671 and the manufacturer's instructions. For app-controlled sockets and wider ranges, see smart switches and sockets in our wiring accessories.
