TP&N Boards & Switchgears
TP&N boards and switchgear are the three phase and neutral distribution products that divide, protect and isolate three phase supplies in commercial and industrial buildings. This range brings together Live Electrical three phase boards with 125A incomers and built-in surge protection, Garo single and triple pole MCBs, Live Type A high immunity RCBOs and 4 pole rotary isolators.
Trade prices are available on a Meteor account, and stock items ordered before 5pm Monday to Friday are with you next working day anywhere in NI or ROI.
Planning a three phase distribution system
Three phase supplies serve offices, shops, factories, farms and some larger homes. Choosing the board and switchgear together ensures every device fits and the installation is easy to extend.
What is in this range
- TP&N boards - Live Electrical three phase boards from 4 to 24 ways, each with a 125A main switch and a 4 pole Type 2 surge device.
- MCBs - single pole and triple pole Garo breakers in B and C characteristics.
- RCBOs - Live single module 30mA Type A devices for single-phase circuits.
- Rotary isolators - 4 pole units for local isolation of plant.
Design considerations
Start by listing three phase loads, such as motors, heaters and sub-boards, which need triple pole protection. Then allocate single-phase lighting and power circuits across L1, L2 and L3 to balance the load. Check the prospective fault current at the board so breaker kA ratings are sufficient, and plan RCD protection for circuits that need it under current wiring regulations.
Installation and isolation
Boards are usually fed from upstream protection with SWA cable sized for load, voltage drop and fault level. Provide local isolation for equipment that needs maintenance; boxed and rotary units are listed under TP&N isolators and switch fuses. Installation, testing and certification should be carried out by a competent electrician to BS 7671 or the equivalent rules in Ireland.
