3 Compartment Dado Trunking
3 compartment dado trunking is a PVC cable management system fixed at dado (desk) height, with separate compartments that keep power, data and communications cables segregated while giving easy access to outlets. We stock the PEMCO Emerald Line dado trunking system in a 50 x 170mm profile.
Matching fittings include internal and external angles, flat bends, flat tees, couplers, end caps and 1 and 2 gang outlet boxes. Trade buyers get trade pricing, with next working day delivery across NI and ROI on in-stock orders received before 5pm on a weekday.
Planning a 3 compartment dado trunking system
Dado trunking is a popular choice for offices, schools, hospitals and refurbishments because it provides power and data outlets wherever desks are positioned, without chasing walls. A little planning before you order makes the installation faster and neater.
Building your system
A complete PEMCO Emerald Line run usually includes:
- Trunking lengths – the 50 x 170mm base and lid.
- Internal and external angles – for wall corners.
- Flat bends and flat tees – for changes of direction and branches on the same plane.
- Couplers – to join lengths neatly.
- End caps – to finish each run.
- 1 and 2 gang outlet boxes – to mount sockets and data outlets.
Measure each wall, add the number of corners and outlet positions, and allow a little extra for cutting waste.
Segregation and capacity
Allocate compartments clearly, typically power in one, data in another and communications or low-voltage cables in the third. Keep compartment dividers fitted throughout, including at bends and outlets, so segregation is maintained as required by current wiring regulations. Do not overfill compartments; leave room for future cables and for heat dissipation.
Fitting tips
Fix the base securely to the wall at the manufacturer's recommended spacing, keep it level and mark outlet positions before cutting the lid. Use a fine-toothed saw from our saws and files range for clean cuts, and suitable wall fixings for the substrate. Fit sockets and data modules, such as Euro modules, to suit the outlet boxes. For wider runs or mini spurs, see our plastic trunking range.
