Plans for Part-night street lighting has been delayed a further 2 Weeks

In Colchester a new scheme which has been delayed a further 2 weeks, which will see the majority of street lighting switched off during the night. The scheme was meant to have begun on Friday, but has been postponed to Monday 18th November, so that all residents can see the final plans which will give the details of which lights will be switched off and which lights will be left on.

No lights will be turned off in places of high crime, busy road junctions or town centresto ensure safety is kept. In the places that are selected the lights will be switched off between 12am and 5am. Rodney Bass said, “The start date was delayed to give residents the opportunity to see the plans before they go live, and to further discuss areas which meet the exemption criteria, with all responses received being taken into account for consideration”.
