No more need For flicking switches to turn on/off lights or home appliances
In all homes there is someone that will forget to switch off the television or lights before bed. And rather than everyone fighting over it, there is a simple solution. The smart home system which is being invented and will allow users to control their appliances using their own voice. A simple ‘going out’ or ‘goodnight’ command will shut down all gadgets and appliances without the need of having to flick off all the switches around the house.. At the recent US Consumer Electronics Show which was hosted in Las Vegas, the South Korean technological firm unveiled the Samsung Smart Home. It will be introduced within the next 6 months and will enable smart televisions, smartphones, tablets and any other home appliances to be connected and managed together. User will be able to connect to the system by simply using an app on their smartphone/tablet, their TV remote control on a Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
The smart devices will allow owners to be alerted to any faults in their appliance, as well as allow them to keep an eye on their homes whenever they are away. The system can connect to cameras in smart TVs, dishwashers and even fridges, which allow the user to catch a glimpse of their home from anywhere via the app. An app called ‘Device Control’ allows for the house owner to remotely switch on/off air conditioning or lighting.
President of Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, Andy Griffiths, said: ‘With Samsung Smart Home, we are bringing our capabilities as the world’s number-one manufacturer of smart devices to make the connected home a reality for consumers today.’ While a Samsung spokesman said: ‘Users will be able to control and manage their home devices through a single application by connecting personal and home devices, from refrigerators and washing machines to smart TVs, digital cameras, smartphones and even the wearable device Galaxy Gear, through an integrated platform and server.’
