'Mini Explosion' In Keighley Street

A faulty electrical cable caused a "mini explosion" in a Keighley street.

Neighbours alerted the fire service when they heard a bang and saw smoke rising from the road.

A brigade spokesman said residents at Stoney Street, Utley, had reported hearing a noise like a firework.

“When we arrived the only sign anything had happened was a little bit of disturbance on the road surface," he added.

“As a precaution we put a safety cordon around it. We contacted the electricity company and remained at the scene until its engineers arrived.”
