8 Burnham-On-Sea houses to feature on TV's Britain's Craziest Christmas Lights
There is nothing subtle about Britain’s Craziest Christmas Lights, a document which is to be shown this morning on a breakfast show on channel 5 and on Christmas Day. The show is a paean to ‘a hardcore of festive fanatics’ who spend all year round planning how to decorate every inch of their house even better than the previous. In particular there are 8 houses in Burnham-On-Sea who will be starry in the show.
They homes have decorated their homes from top to bottom with over 100,000 lights which are opened for display to the public from 4.10pm to 10pm each night until the 5th January. The homes have already raised £3,500 over this past 2 weeks and are hoping to raised over last years total of £5,000 with all collections going to PETAL.
One of the residents, Roger Flower said the main reason that they have continued all these years is due to the generosity and support which is shown by visitors every year. "We get great satisfaction from seeing people enjoy the lights and because we are doing it for such worthwhile causes," he said.
However, there are more houses which are named and shamed for having the craziest Christmas lights. The script which is narrated by Noddy Holder is peppered with distracting tabloidese: a 24 year old ‘computer whizz kid’ who has programmed all his lighting among other participants who have ‘spent tons of their well earned cash’.
In one case it even shows the worst offenders, the Skinner family who proudly admit decorating their Bolsevor home in October with an array of illuminated reindeer and Santas. They have paid so much attention to detail, rendering it a remarkable masterpiece, whether it was showing the precise layout of a series of reindeer nodding, or a penguin positioning predicament. However, Stan Truelove was the best of all – having spent over £80,000 on his decorations, he was adamant about creating a ‘Christmas reindeer park’ behind his home.
