Vending Machine Brings Groceries back

Many people across the world live in remote areas and if they happened to run out of milk or bread they would have to travel for miles and miles before they reach their nearest shop. Peter Fox a UK based engineer is trying to cut out this hassle as he believes vending machines are the answer. People who live in remote areas only have two options waste a lot of fuel driving for miles or walking a long distance.

Peter Fox wants to introduce vending machines across the world that is the size of a parking space which will allow individuals to get all their household essentials such as food basics, toiletries, pet food and washing detergent. The vending machines are easy to use as the individual can insert cash or credit cards into the machine.

Peter came up with the idea as he himself lives in a rural area and he realised the lack of convenient shops nearby were low. His neighbours and himself often found it a hassle to find a shop nearby and therefore they had to commute further to larger towns.

Fox came up with the idea a few years ago but he couldn’t find a suitable manufacturer that would make him what he wanted so he decided to make the machine himself and called it the Speedy Shop.

The machines, which are patent pending, are weatherproof, and Fox designs the exteriors so that they blend in with the surroundings. They also come with security features so thieves can't just bust in and steal the contents.

Before visiting the Speedy Shop, consumers can browse online to see whether what they need is in stock. When something runs out, the machines send Village Vending electronic restocking alerts.

"It's hard to compete with the supermarkets on everything, but we can get pretty close, and when you take the travel time and costs into account, we think we can compete, and bring the village shop back to the village," said Fox.
