Hope Center receives help with Electrical Project

The Community Hope Centre located in Cottage Hills, in the state of Illinois, United States is relying on volunteers to support the project. Steve Woodson offered his help, when they needed trucks to provide them access to electricity.

Woodson along with fellow lineman Rob Adair donated their time to the Hope Centre, by installing a pole in the back lot. They were able to connect a pole, which was donated by a Granite City church camp using a trencher which Ameren offered. This was then connected to the electrical system of the building. Resulting in the centre’s diesel trucks, being able to plug their block heater into an electrical source. The pole will be fitted with a security light and CCTV in order to monitor any unlawful activities.

This was not the first time that Woodson has helped assist the Hope Centre with a project; he helped with the overhead electrical work when the centre had constructed an addition to the existing building. Woodson says ‘his reason for helping is that he feels the centre offers a vital service to the local community and they are well managed in doing so.’ Cloninger is grateful for the work that is offered by the volunteers, which allows them to keep their doors open for those who need the centre’s services. The centre provides food, clothing, a med clinic as well as an adult education program and will soon have a new service to help homeless women with children called, the ‘House of Hope’.

Because of the high demand, the centre is constantly looking for volunteers, Cloninger says, “There are always things that need done here, we are always in need of volunteers with any skills you can imagine.”
