Firm Is Set to be Boosted With Cost Saving Electrical Work
A warehousing and distribution giant in East Staffordshire has undergone a massive revamp which can see the company cutting its energy bills by thousands of pounder a year. Bosses at Amethyst Group Limited, based in Fradley Park, revealed that they had linked up Mace, Burton based electrical contractor, in a bid to install electrical and emergency lightingsystems at it facility.
With the work now completed, the bosses hope that they could save up to £3,000 a year on future energy costs. Simon Chapman, Managing director for Mace said, “To assist Amethyst in controlling the costs of its move, our engineers took the unusual decision to recycle and refurbish the existing lighting installations.”
“After successfully finishing an initial project at Amethyst Burton, our electrical services were recommended to the operations teams at Amethyst Fradley. We were able to show examples of previous projects, where our innovative electrical designs and installations had reduced operating costs,” he further added.
As part of the extended schedule of works, before installing an energy efficient lighting system in Warehouse No 1 in Fradley, the Mace engineers provided necessary guidance and advice. An investigation was carried out prior to the start of the installations, where Mace had identified that the firms could get potential savings by replacing their existing ‘low bay’ lighting.
At the company’s Granary Wharf offices, the design team developed an energy saving scheme that allowed all the high consuming 400W lighting units to be replaced. Mace engineers then worked around the daytime operations to complete the rewiring and refurbishment in both facilities.
Mr. Chapman, from Amethyst Group said, “It is still early days to make a completely accurate estimate of the annual savings. But similar installations have delivered reductions in energy bills of close to £3,000 per annum.”
Amethyst Group is wholly-owned subsidiary of Japanese Itochu Corporation. The company plays an important role in providing distribution and warehousing services to clients in five key sectors, including beauty and fashion.
