Electricity bills 'one of householders' biggest fears'

Wondering about how to pay the hefty winter fuel bills is the main cause of sleepless nights among British householders, according to new research from insurance provider Zurich.

A survey from the organisation revealed that household bills form the basis of anxiety for 45 per cent of people in the UK, ahead of children and family issues (36 per cent), troubles with the neighbours (29 per cent) and pressure at work (26 per cent).

Kay Martin, chief marketing officer for Zurich's general insurance business in the UK, commented: "With rising household bills, it's no surprise that a lot of people are being kept awake at night worrying about money."

While Meteor Electrical cannot do much to help with annoying neighbours, it could help you reduce your winter electricity bills with its selection of energy saving LED light bulbs.

The five-Watt 2D four-pin LED bulb, for example, is said to reduce energy by 65 per cent compared with using a fluorescent equivalent with magnetic ballast to illuminate the same space. Switching to this LED light once your current incandescent bulb has died could therefore save you a great deal of money over the long run, especially as it has an average lamp life of 30,000 hours.

It also features instant start with no flickering, which is unlike other energy saving bulbs that have been on the market in the last few years.

Homeowners could also invest in feature lighting that costs less than usual by purchasing the nine-Watt LED IP54 Dimmable Downlight. Suitable for domestic and commercial use, this LED bulb has a life expectancy of 50,000 hours and an A-grade energy rating, making it one of the best performing LED lights on the market.

It comes with a Triac driver to make it completely dimmable, meaning you can create atmospheric lighting in your home without worrying about your electricity payments.
