Malaysia Airline flight was forced to make an emergency landing

A Malaysia Airline flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Hong Kong. The plane was carrying 271 passengers from Kuala Lumpar to South Korea but it had to make a stop after the plane had an electrical fault.

The fault was believed to have come from the on-board generator as it wasn’t functioning properly; however there was no loss of power as an auxiliary generator took over.

Malaysia Airlines said in a statement: "MH066 operated on the A330-300 aircraft, departed from Kuala Lumpur at 11.37pm and was scheduled to arrive at Incheon at 6.50am local time.

"All 271 passengers from M066 have been transferred on other carriers. The return flight MH067 from Incheon to Kuala Lumpur is cancelled and passengers have been transferred on other carriers as well as subsequent Malaysia Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur."

All 271 passengers were transferred to other carriers, the airline said, while the return flight from Incheon to Kuala Lumpur was cancelled.

Passengers have been transferred to other flights for the return leg.

The aircraft's landing light lens cover had to be replaced earlier reports suggested the plane's windshield had been broken but Malaysia Airlines denied this.

The incident intensifies the focus on Malaysia Airlines as the international search continues for the missing flight MH370 and the 239 people on board.
