Lights to been turned off for longer in a bid to save money

Already there is roughly around 80% of lights in Warwickshire switched off  between 12am and 5.30am weekdays and between 1am and 6.30am  at the weekends. There is fear that these times could be extended in an attempt to help lower the costs, which could save the council up to £300,000 following a budget simulator.

Between December 2012 and April 2013, in an attempt to save half a million annually a scheme called ‘part night lighting’ was introduced. The council have to try and claw back 92 million of spending for the next 4 years and the simulation is only a set of ideas at the present moment of time until a policy is discussed in further detail.

Final decisions will be revealed around February when the budget comes out regarding how the council’s savings will be carried out.
