Fear of Death as Exploding Pavements Increase In The UK Capital

There is a risk of Londoners being killed due to the high increase of pavement explosions, the Health and Safety Executive fear that a fatality could happen.

Figures have been looked at, and the stats have shown that the overall underground explosions have nearly quadrupled between 2011 and last year, with there being a total of 12 reported in 2010.

Despite the figure actually declining in 2011 it jumped up significantly to 29 last year. Already this year there has been a recorded 12 Blasts, but luckily enough no-one has died as a result, with John Steed, principal specialist electrical inspector at HSE, fearing that a fatality could happen.

UK company ‘Power Networks’, who currently distribute electricity throughout the capital,  have said that it is making a substantial investment in testing all underground equipment by vastly increasing inspections in a bid to reduce any future injuries or fatalities.
