Electric Car Vending Machine

As the population in China grows the need for cars for every family is on the rise. Stats show that it is expected that there will be over 80 million cars needed in China by the end of the decade on top of the 120 million already in use.  The government have decided to put a stop to the amount of cars being made and sold in China by limiting the number of new license plates being issued. The new scheme will also allow for the increase of cars that can be made to run on electricity or on natural gas.

Prior to the influx of cars in china most people commuted around the city by walking, biking, scooters or trains. However this is becoming more of a problem, as many Chinese families feel a need for a car for trips outside the city or for a big shopping trip whereby the train just isn’t possible for all their bags.

Kandi Technologies plan to combat the problem while still sticking to the government’s rules and regulations. They plan on making 100,000 cars available to the residents of Hangzhou for hourly rental over the next couple of years. As Chinas space for building is limited the company is building automated multi-storey garages that work just like vending machines you put a card in and out comes the car.

For just £1.95 per hour, you can rent one of the Kandi cars. They are built in partnership with Geely, best known in the west as the company that bought Volvo. The vehicles are electric, with a range of 75 miles and a top speed of 50 miles per hour. This might seem limiting but the vehicles are intended for urban use and the city speed limits are 30mph therefore no need to go any faster.
