LED Floodlights

Advantages of Motion Detector in an LED Sensor Floodlight

If you have a space that needs outdoor floodlight, purchasing floodlights LED devices with some kind of motion detector system integrated into it is a good idea. There are multiple reasons why people opt for LED PIR floodlights instead of other lighting options.

Some of these advantages include how LED sensor floodlight devices are an extremely energy-efficient option because they only switch on when a living being passes by. This makes floodlights LED lighting a hands-free option when it comes to operation.

There is no manual procedure needed when switching the LED PIR floodlights on and off. In addition, burglary or any other sketchy activity can be identified instantly with the LED PIR floodlights turning on based on any kind of movement from living things.

Which LED PIR Floodlights to Buy

There are various factors to consider when purchasing outdoor LED flood lights and some of them include things like what lumens to use, colour temperature, wattage, brands, and more. Meteor has various options from the top lighting manufacturers from which you can choose LED PIR floodlights.

You can also expect these outdoor LED flood lights to have an impressive life span of up to 25,000 hours, 110° beam angle, and CCT of 4000K-45000K.

LED PIR Floodlights Placement

Positioning Floodlights LED devices in the right way is very important because a poorly placed LED sensor floodlight will do nothing but be a nuisance if the light constantly turns on at the wrong moment, or not at all.

This is why taking into account the detective distance according to what you require should be standard practice before buying and positioning your LED PIR flood lights. It will be easier to realize whether you need to get floodlights LED devices with a stronger sensor or not.

While there are LED PIR floodlights with a 360° detection radius, some only will be able to pick up movements within an area of 120° such as the Red Arrow 20W LED PIR Floodlights. The opening angle has an important role to play in this.

Detection distance is also an important factor to take into account when looking at LED sensor floodlight options. While some standard floodlights LED devices can detect up to distances of 8 meters, it can vary and go up to 16 meters if necessary.

Cabling and Connection of External Floodlights LED

The first factor when it comes to LED PIR floodlights cabling is to provide for it – this is where a newly constructed house will have an advantage. Choosing the position in a manner that can conceal the Floodlights LED devices cables easily is made possible here with a bit of pre-planning. In comparison, existing homes do not provide the same luxury and the installation of an external cable against the outer wall may be necessary to install your LED sensor floodlight device.

External Floodlights LED Connection Diagram

The cabling for LED PIR floodlights is fairly simple – whether the Floodlights LED come with an internal or external motion sensor, a 3 wire cable of 1.5mm² will be required.

If it comes with a built-in motion detector like for LED sensor floodlight devices such as the Red Arrow 50W LED PIR Floodlight, then the three wires (phase, neutral, and grounding) can be connected in the standard manner. In the case of floodlights LED with a separate motion sensor, the wires must be connected to the sensor and then led to the lamp from there.

Colour Temperature (Kelvin) – LED PIR Floodlights

Here are the various colour temperatures you can get from different floodlights LED options.

  • 6500K – 6500K LED sensor floodlight options such as the Kosnic Rhine 10W LED Floodlight are one of the most common options. The colour temperature you get with this LED sensor floodlight is a cool white illumination that imitates daytime environments and is ideal for the illumination and security of outdoor spaces.
  • 4000K – 4000K Floodlights LED options to provide a natural coloured light that works best within professional workspaces.

  • 3000K – 3000K LED sensor floodlight devices to project a warm colour of LED light that is primarily used in places such as restaurants or houses where creating an ambience indoors is a priority.

LED PIR Floodlights Bulbs

For LED sensor floodlight options, light bulbs are sorted by letter and number codes. The common types you can find for floodlights LED devices are R. BR, PAR, and MR.

  • BR Bulbs – These bulbs are the best choice for an LED sensor floodlight that is located indoors, and specifically when broad lighting without excessive brightness is required. An example of an application which fits this scenario is a kitchen countertop.

  • PAR Bulbs – PAR bulbs are designed in a way that enables the bulb to project an intense beam of light in one direction, similar to what you can find with a spotlight. This makes PAR bulbs ideal for any LED sensor floodlight that is being used outdoors.
  • R Bulbs – R bulbs are used more for niche lighting applications and are only used when a replacement for an old R bulb is needed.
  • MR Bulbs  – MR bulbs have similar applications as R bulbs and are also rarely used other than as replacements for MR or R bulbs.

LED PIR Floodlights Mounting Options

There are many different types of LED sensor floodlight accessories mounting options available that have various functions and purposes.

Extruded Arm

The extruded arm is an L-shaped base which is used to mount the Floodlights LED device upon a fixture and provide lighting to a fixed area. This is the standard form and most common way of mounting LED sensor floodlight devices.

Slip Fitter Mount

The slip fitter is a pole mounting option that can be used for any LED sensor floodlight; it is where the Floodlights LED device is attached to a pole and this provides lighting around a broad area. This type of LED sensor floodlight mounting is common in places such as parking lots.

Knuckle Mount

The knuckle mount is an adjustable LED sensor floodlight mounting option that allows you to point the illumination up or down. The way this works is similar to a spotlight and is commonly used for applications such as billboard lighting.

Shorting Cap

The shorting cap LED sensor floodlight mounting option contains a shorting connection between the line and the load of the receptacle which keeps the lights on at all times when power is being supplied.

Photocell

The photocell Floodlights LED option uses a sensor to detect the level of lighting available outside and according to the information it receives, it turns on only when necessary when the environment turns too dark.
