Meteor Convert Tracey Concrete's Lighting To LED
The Meteor Electrical Lighting Division has recently completed an LED changeover of Tracey Concrete’s lighting supply throughout their headquarters in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh.
Tracey Concrete is one of the most established companies in the Precast Concrete industry and is frequently involved in the supply to some of the largest construction sites across the UK and Ireland.

The headquarters in Enniskillen comprises 8 factories and a large surrounding yard where all lighting was changed over to LED. Working in conjunction with Paul McShea Electrical and Aurora Lighting, the job was carried out with minimum inconvenience to the daily running of the plant and all works were completed within the 2 week schedule.

The 8 factories within the plant were originally fitted with 400W Metal Halide High Bays, each of these were replaced with 160W LED High Bays. The surrounding yard of the plant had 400W Metal Halide Floods installed, using Aurora’s 200w LED Floods replacement, we were able to more than half the wattage output but actually improve the lighting (Lumens) output.

The offices had square ‘Tile Lights’ in the suspended ceilings which contained 4x18W T8 tubes (72W per light), these were changed to a 36W square LED panel. All Aurora LED panels have a unified glare rating of 19; this means that they have an even light distribution which is ideal for the office environment. Additionally, during these works we were able to replace over 100 T8 tubes with their LED equivalent, again improving the quality of light output while vastly reducing the wattage output and associated costs.

Our experienced LED team talked Tracey’s through every step of the process and we completed all the administrative work in relation to the Carbon Trust interest-free loan. The ‘payback’ period for this job was 26 months, meaning the entire cost of the changeover will have paid for itself from the savings made from the first 26 months. Not only has this conversion saved Tracey Concrete money, it has also increased the light quality in all parts of the plant - in some areas the light output levels have increased threefold. Ultimately, this will make it a safer and more productive area to work.
